Gave a Interview today after a very long time. My last interview i gave was on 25th May, so after 2 months, finally got this interview. But it turned out to be one of my worst interviews till now.
They asked scenario-based questions, which I have encountered in some interviews before, but I had never started an interview with questions like these. Usually they start with some basic questions first, then intermediate, and after 20–25 minutes these types of questions come. Even the role was for an internship.
Not saying they should have asked easy questions, but was different from what I've experienced. They only asked 2 Questions and also they said it will be screening process
Question
1. Intro
2. A customer paid successfully, money was deducted, but the UI showed "Payment Failed" As a frontend developer, how would you debug it or what would you do ?
3. You're using a third-party API that allows 1000 requests/minute using some parameter. Now you want to avoid repeatedly calling the API but wanted to use that parameter. How would you do it?
And I completely froze in both questions
After the first question technical question, I was trying to visualize the problem on my laptop to think through it and the interviewer asked what I was using to answer. My hand was moving slightly while I was thinking, but I wasn't searching for anything or trying to cheat.
Then for the second question, he mentioned they have specifically designed for this interview and i will not find answer anywhere, which made the situation worse , i was not cheating or searching anything, but maybe after interview they may feel i was cheating as was unable to answer both of the question. That could leave a bad impression, especially if I ever try to apply there again after some months.
The worst part is not that i did not gave answer but I did not give any answer at all, not even a wrong answer or even a single line of my thinking.
Dont know how to put the feeling I had for the next 1-2 hours after the interview. Just had very mixed emotions of disappointment and frustration. Lost today maybe just need to try harder
